MIDER’s refinery or Mitteldeutsche Erdoel Raffinerie, situated in Leuna/Spergau, is the newest grass-roots facility replacing an older refinery that was located on the same site. This refinery, which is owned by TOTAL group based in Paris, went into operation in November 1997 to become Europe’s most modern refinery optimizing the loading procedure for mineral oil products.
The refinery complex, with one of the highest turnovers in eastern Germany, commenced an inspection maintenance shutdown in 1999. The expenditure for the 7 weeks duration of maintenance activity was realised at a cost of 110 million Euros.
Ivan Janssen was responsible for contract strategy, preparation of contract documents, commercial management of shutdown maintenance construction works as well as for implementation of contract cost management, preparation and agreement of valuations for payment to contractors, expenditure reports and for progress & management reports inclusive recommendations to both Mider and the TOTAL group head office in Paris.
